Why Mentoring?

We strive to bring WHVAC members the highest value through our programs. We received your feedback and have proactively worked to update our Mentorship program.

Mentorship is a relationship between two people to provide support, share knowledge, experiences, networking, and to foster professional growth while building relationships.

Trust and accountability are foundations of an effective relationship. This relationship can help you define your goals, understand your job role, navigating challenges in the workplace and much more. Remember, the mentoring partnership is a two way process that provides benefits for both the mentor and mentee. Transfer testimonials we already have in this section

Mentor or Mentee

Whether you're looking at becoming a mentor, or looking for a mentorship, we have the programs you need.

Is mentoring for you?

  • Do you like making a difference?
  • Think about your career path…..Who helped you along the way?
  • Do you want to challenge yourself and grow as a leader?
  • What time commitment can I make?

Mentoring is more than the transfer of knowledge, advice, knowledge or insights. A mentor encourages people to take ownership in personal development while providing perspective to help avoid pitfalls and reinventing the wheel. Mentor’s experiences have shaped them through the struggles and can help navigate, show the big picture while being unbiased. The job of a great mentor is to challenge your beliefs and views but give you space to decide who you really want to be, instead of being the person that you think you should be. As a mentor you have ability to provide ideas, thoughts and insights that challenge and enablea mentee to see beyond their scope by amplifying their thinking capabilities.

Mentoring provides so many benefits for those willing to invest their time in developing another professional.

  • Recognition as a subject matter expert and leader
  • Exposure to fresh perspectives, ideas and approaches
  • Extension of their professional development record
  • Opportunity to reflect on their own goals and practices
  • Development of their personal leadership and coaching styles
  • Engage and develop “Top Performers” BUT more importantly…..

Give back and make a difference…

  • Have I set goals or career aspirations and struggled to execute?
  • Do I need guidance or help in a specific area of my personal or professional life?

As a mentee, you must have a clear objective and understanding of what you are hoping to gain from this experience. Once you have this defined, you and your Mentor can fine tune and transform your vision. Your mentor will encourage however, you will need to proactive and take the initiative and put the work in to achieve the gains from the experience. Being a mentee means that you take the challenge and build dedication around learning and practicing new skillsets.
